Happy Valentine's Day

I'm really not a sentimental girl.

Really!

But it's hard not to feel a wee bit Valentine-y when I look at this picture of my husband and me the day after we were engaged.

There's actually not a whole lot of photos of us pre-marriage....after all, we had only been dating for five months when we got engaged!

I'm really not a "lovey" girl.  I don't like romantic comedies or love songs.  But here I am, on my wedding day, with my husband, less than one year after we'd first met.

When it was time to leave the church, I found that it was not an easy task waving goodbye to your whole family.  I could not have done it for just anyone.

Here we are in Costa Rica on our honeymoon....a huge step for me!  My first time out of the country, and my first trip as a "married lady."  I could have only done that with someone I truly trusted and loved.

I have to admit, I'm not the kind of girl who finds it easy to fall in love.

But I'm glad I did.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Entrance Table

What can help cut through the bleak, gray days that follow the bright cheer of Christmas?

Valentine's sweetness!

This is my Valentine's entrance table....

It's the one area of my home that is always updated for each holiday.  I usually enjoy subtle holiday decore, so I went with neutrals and pinks to give it a Valentine's essence.

A few delicate pretties go on the pink toile wooden tray that I made over the holidays.

A small white pitcher, creamy hydrangeas, old books, and a white birdcage tealight holder.....

A creamy French flower bucket, pink and white flowers, the Valentine button art I made here, and a homemade apothecary jar. (What should I fill it with??)

XOXO!

A Few Valentine Sweets

It was a gloomy day here in southern Mississippi, so I brightened it by making a few Valentine "sweets" to adorn our home.  It was rainy, so I'm glad I had everything I needed--some file folders, ribbon, felt....just simple stuff!

It only took about 30 minutes  to paint an old frame white and arrange some pretty buttons on some felt scraps.

I glued loops of ribbon onto a file-folder cone to make a fun Valentine tree....

Sweet!
