Flower Cone

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.  I hate waste.

So I made a flower cone, literally, out of trash.

Well, not everything is downright trash.  Some parts of it are those little scraps that are too big to just throw away but too small to be really useful.  Like a little leftover craft moss, floral wire, and tan scrapbookpaper.

But some of it was most certainly bound-for-the-garbage trash.  Old silk flowers, woven wallpaper samples from the early 90s.

And now this would-be waste is out of a landfill and hanging in my den, reminding me of the blooming May occurring outdoors.

And it didn't cost me a thing.

Bottle Cap Magnets

I hate waste.

How about bottle cap magnets instead?



Tiny, "unusable" pieces of scrapbook paper and bottle caps combine for this fun project.

Cut some circles, glue them inside the caps, seal with some clear resin, and super glue a magnet to the back of each.

I love a ten-minute project!

Apothecary Jar--A True "Trash to Treasure"

As I've mentioned before, the decorating budget is scarce (a.k.a., almost non-existant) here in newlywed world.  I've seen (and loved) DIY apothecary jars, so I went hunting the other day to see if I had the goods to make one myself. 

And I did!



 Here is what I rustled up from my stash of miscellaneous junk: a glass candleholder, a pink drawer pull, a gray $1 "vase" from Goodwill that had a silk pansy in it, and the glass top from a large Yankee Candle.

Paint, assemble, glue. 

Place with Valentine's Day decore.

A true "trash to treasure"!
