Two Unique Tree Ornament Ideas

Luckily, since I now have a husband's tastes to consider, I have a little bit of a rustic side.  Over the weekend, I found these little "twig bundles" from Target on sale for $1.50 at a closeout store called Dirt Cheap (they didn't have these stores in Georgia, and I'm so glad they have them here in Mississippi! Everything at this store is unsold/last season's/returned merchandise from other stores like Target and Kohl's that they sell for ridiculously low prices....Like, I got a great shelf from Target for 60 cents.)

I knew they would make a great crafting project, so I decided to turn them into these little rustic Christmas tree snowflakes using hot glue and ribbons....

Very rustic, very simple.  And my husband approves!

These next ornaments were more for me...the book lover.

I cut up strips of an old paperback with nice, aged, pages....

And used modge podge to apply them to a clear plastic Christmas ornament.

I'm well on my way to my goal--making ALL the ornaments for our first Christmas tree!

  8. It will be such a wonderful memory years down the road that you handmade all your ornaments for your first Christmas tree! I love both these ideas. Of course you know decoupage has a very special place in my heart. But the rustic idea is very sweet for the husband!
