Alive

During this, the hottest time of summer, does everything just seem so alive?

Even your dog?  (Ours just had a little surgery, as you can see)

The air is so heavy and hot.

Things just seem to bloom.

This vines creeps and creeps, even when rain is scarce.

And this purple beauty needs little water to survive.

And thrive.

It's July, and all the world seems alive.

To Make a Summer

Emily Dickinson wrote that it only takes a clover and one bee to make a prairie.

So what does it take to make a summer?  Little more than that, friends.

It takes.....

Fresh flowers

Fresh Vegetables

Good food

Melon Salad with Basil

Friends

It's right around the corner!

Summer is Passing Us By

Like it or not, the summer is slipping away.

And so, therefore, is this....

And this....

Soon all these will fade away....

As will the beauty of these....

Weekends away will no longer be spent here....

like so many were this summer.

Heat will be replaced with cool.

Long days will give way to long nights.

Let us wring out the last drops of the season, content in the present, and leaving tomorrow for itself.
