Spring in Full Swing--White Wednesday

Spring is surely here and in full swing....

There are fresh whites everywhere.

I love white's purity.

My Georgia Home

I have finally made it back to Mississippi, but I spent some wonderful time at my old Georgia home where I lived with my cousin before I got married.  She still lives there, and much of it is the same as when I left it, which I love!  I spent much time gathering fun finds to decorate it.  It's a sweet, 100 year-old farmhouse, and I miss it every day!

My love of color definitely shows.  This is a glimpse into the red guest room.

The kitchen is a wonderful sunny shade...."Good Morning Sunshine," to be exact!

These pretty blue plates belonged to the elderly lady who lived here before we did (her family left TONS of wonderful things behind.  I can't believe they let us have it all!)

Wonderful mementos....

An antique Coke tray my grandmother gave me and a vintage ball jar....

Vintage Crisco jar....

These three items were more treasures left behind from the previous owner....a vintage gas can, pitcher, and ice tray!  They now sit atop the kitchen cabinets.

My old office....a tribute to my favorite color!

Part two is yet to come!

I Love the Color White

But isn't white actually a lack of color?  Anyway....

I have noticed that when picking clothes, dishes, decore, etc., I very often choose white.  At a football game recently, I realized I was wearing a white sweater, white peacoat, and white gloves!

This definitely carries over into my home.  I guess white is traditionally a summer color, but isn't it beautiful in this cold, wintry months?  And doesn't its purity give you a sense of calmness and serenity? It certainly does me!

I Am Pleased To Announce...

...the opening of my Etsy shop, Cotton Breeze.

Cotton Breeze offers affordable handmade home decore items with a distinctive farmhouse and cottage style. My goal is to create treasures that combine Southern flair and timeless charm.

I am so pleased to be able to be able to pursue this endeavor, largely due to the invaluable inspiration I have gained from all of the wonderful and creative bloggers I have encountered since starting "Till Death Do Us Part" just a few short months ago.

Some of the items for saleare things I have blogged about creating, and some are items I made just for the shop.  I will definitely be adding more items in the coming weeks, and I'm pleased to say that since "opening my doors" last night, I already made a sale!

Here are a few of the items currently in the shop:

Shabby white trinket tray

Shabby white framed candy dish

Black and white square dishes

I am so grateful for all my blog friendships, and thank you again for all of your support of this blog and most of all, for your tremendous inspiration!

Christmas Kitchen Table

Our kitchen is orange, blue, and green....not very Christmasy. So I knew I couldn't just toss some green/red candles in the center of the table for a centerpiece.  Therefore, I declared green and brown to be our Christmas kitchen colors.

I got some green/brown fabric on sale at Hobby Lobby to temporarily replace the blue/white fabric at the center of our everyday table runner.

Some pretty bottles and frosty pine cones....

A few of our everyday Spode Woodland dishes sit on the runner to add to the display.

A brown and green, outdoor, Southern Christmas!

I Love Dishes

I've loved dishes ever since my mama took me to an antique store when I was about twelve years old and let me pick out an old teacup and saucer (oh how I wish I still had it!).  I was probably the only girl my age who sat that on her dresser along with an old milk glass bowl that I would fill with rose petals from the yard.

My love of dishes has only grown greater, so I thought I would "show off" a few!

While my husband and I were at an antique store recently, we ran upon these beautiful Spode "Blue Room" dishes for only $6 each, so I had to have them!

They look fantastic in my blue/green/orange kitchen.

One thing that makes Spode so beautiful is the detailing! I love it.

I am in love with one of the dish sets we got when we got married (almost six WHOLE months ago!).  It's my first set of "real" dishes, and I must confess, it's quite thrilling.

Spode Woodland...

I love the very Southern scenes depicted on the plates.

They are definitely a good compromise for us...the outdoorsy vibe for him, the beautiful, antique-like edging for me.

The details.  It's definitely the details that make me fall head over heels.

There are surely more dish "showcases" to come!

(P.S. I'm linking this post to Sally's Blue Monday!)
