Tiny Felt Stockings

This is our second year as a married couple.  For our first Christmas, we didn't even have Christmas stockings!  I'm a big follower of traditions, so I had to remedy this problem.

I freehanded a little stocking on paper and then cut it out.  I used the cut-out as a template to trace ten little stockings onto pieces of felt along with little rectangles for the trim on top.

I then matched up the pieces and hand-sewed them together with embroidery floss.

Just a little something.  You know, for tradition's sake.

One for each member (whether human or animal) of our own little family.

Your little stockings are so sweet...love that you made the yourself. I can't hang my stockings on my mantle....so I hang them on my fireplace screen instead. :)

  11. Years ago - when I was in high school - I tried to make a stocking for my mom. I cut out two of the same SIDES. Now this mattered because I was using felt with glitter on it. Needless to say, Mom's had glitter on the outside as well as the inside. I'm glad you were more successful with yours!

  12. These stockings are adorable! My husband and I have stockings (his is from when he was a little boy), but we never put them up because our fireplace doesn't have a mantle! There's really nowhere else to hang them either. Our son has a stocking, but I just hang it from his bedroom doorknob. :-)

  14. Hi Kelly, cute little stockings - they are great but I think you will be keeping these as a decoration because when you have kiddies, the stockings will need to be a lot bigger, LOL Thanks so much for sharing and Merry Christmas. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris
