During this period when I get to be happy homemaker, I'm trying to make the most of my time and start good habits that can last me a lifetime.
At some point (and some place) recently, I read about starting a "home management" notebook. I love managing things, and I love notebooks, so of course I made one!
This was another one of those projects where I was determined to use ONLY what I already had. That way, I wouldn't go to Michael's and go crazy on the scrapbook aisle.
My husband has tons of notebooks left from grad school.
I just hot glued yellow toile onto it. I kept wanting to doll up the front, but I reminded myself that this is supposed to be FUNCTIONAL, so too many embellishments would get in the way.
I visited The Graphics Fairy and just went to town! She has pretty banners that I downloaded and typed my categories into.
I decided to make sections for monthly bills, expenditures, appointments, and garden (I like to keep track of when I plant what!).
I took dividers (I'm so glad we have a well-stocked home office) and scrapbook paper from my stash and set up my pages.
Look at these beautiful graphics I included from The Graphics Fairy. They fit right in with my sections.
I could easily just grab an accordian file or spiral notebook to keep track of things, but where's the fun in that?
I do love being organized!

Don't you just love the Graphics Fairy?! You can be organized and stylish at the same time. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes! ~M :)
I love how you made your notebook! This is much prettier than something you would've bought from a store. I have a question for you: when you download these beautiful fonts from the Graphics Fairy, do you then print them out on scrapbook paper? Thanks for any help!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness me this is scary. Not only do we have the same background, we both like home management folders. I made one last year (not so much vintagey, but I do love yours), and I use it everyday. They help me keep everything under control. Love Graphics Fairy.

Girl, you are majorly talented! I love what you did with this notebook. Keep sharing your gifts and talents with us.
ReplyDeleteThe Graphics Fairy is WONDERFUL! Great notebook...it is sure to help keep things organized!
ReplyDeleteYour notebook is fabulous! Love the fabric cover and the dividers, too. All the vintage images add a fun touch.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from the Graphics Fairy. TFS!
Great notebook! I wish I was more organised but there is too much of the 'hippy, flowery, let things just run themselves' girl in me. I have a control folder too but it sits and collects dust. Yours is totally cute though! Thanks for visiting my blog. Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteI have been playing around with the idea that I should do this too and after seeing how cute you made yours I almost just have to do it right now.
ReplyDeleteIt would be so nice to have everything in one place and just tell my husband go look there...
Thank you for sharing.
Way better than an ugly old accordion file! Beautiful job!
